Who is Derek Salyers?

Hey guys, my name is Derek Salyers and I currently work full-time from home using this wonderful contraption we call the Internet!

I currently make money using the web a couple different ways. The way that most of you are interested in, hence you visiting this blog, is via affiliate marketing. Affiliate Marketing is my number one income source from all the different ways I try to use the internet to create an income for myself.

While affiliate marketing is where ~70% of my income comes from, I also enjoy other ways of creating an online income. I own several content websites and some other small sites that make up the other ~30% of revenue I do a year.

As I said, I work full-time from home. I don’t have to worry about the hassle of getting up and driving to work everyday, a boss hassling me about getting stuff done, and all the other fun stuff that comes along with having a so called normal job!

So, since this blog is about my affiliate marketing en devours, I’ll will not be touching on the other subjects for the remaining of this little biography.

How did I get Started in Affiliate Marketing?

I started creating websites at a very young age, around 8 – 10 years old, creating websites for various stuff that interested me at the time. I didn’t really try to create any income around that time, in fact, I didn’t even realize you could make an income online!

I continued on in my life and around the age of 19 or 20, I realized that there were people making money using the internet and I thought to myself, “If they can do this full-time, why can’t I?” I then started to search on how I would accomplish this little goal I had set for myself.

Over the course of the next 2 years I created several websites about different subjects, yet I never really created a site that really took off. In late 2006 I had a couple different websites up and was making about 300 – 500 dollars a month profit from them. Even though I was finally making some money online, I started to wonder if it really was possible to make a complete living by creating websites on the internet. I started searching around some more and soon stumbled upon a business called affiliate marketing and from that point on my life would change drastically!

In late 2006, when I stumbled upon affiliate marketing, I immediately took an interest in it. I started searching frantically around the internet for anything I could find on this subject and took in as much as I could. I finally launched a small campaign and walked away to goto my job…

When I got home, I frantically ran to the computer as soon as I stepped foot in the door hoping to see that I made a couple dollars. I turned on my computer, loaded up AzoogleAds and I froze. My account said that I had brought in 120 something dollars for the day so far. After I came out of my daze I started getting nervous. A little voice in the back of my head said that there is no way I could of made any decent money from this and that something was wrong. I immediately logged in to check how much I had spent to earn this 120 dollars and too my surprise it said I had spent about 50 bucks!

Anyways, to make a long story short (yeah I know it’s already long ) I ran with it from there and have never looked back!

How much do I Make?

I’ve never really said anything about how much money I make online, because I feel that sometimes in this niche people like to brag, and I’ve always instead focused on my articles (not grammar ) and show you exactly what you need to do to make money via affiliate marketing.

However, I’ve recently order a couple of paid reviews on different blogs in the make money online niche and almost every single one of them have said that I should post a little info on how much I make. So, this will probably be one of the few places on this blog that you will actually see what I make via affiliate marketing only.

Now, unlike a normal job where you have so many hours and you know exactly what you make a week, my numbers fluctuate and can fluctuate quite a bit each month. If I take the average of what I’ve made for the last 6 months, it comes to around $200,000 dollars a month before taxes.

What are some of your hobbies?

I have several hobbies outside of the internet that I pursue and love to enjoy!

I’m a huge golfer. Especially in the last year I’ve really picked up how much I actually play. I normally would go out about 10 – 20 times during summer, however, this last year I think I went out at least 3 times a week! I really enjoy getting out and enjoying the fresh air, especially since I’m on a computer all the time. To me, golf is very relaxing and it seems to really help me to think when I’m dealing with the latest Google Slap or anything else that comes with the territory.

I also enjoy Japanese Anime (animation) and have a collection of over 200 DVD’s currently with some of my favorites being Akira, Appleseed, Read or Die the Movie, Read or Die the TV Series, and Elfen Lied.

I’m also an avid biker (motorcyclist) and currently have a 95 Kawasaki Ninja ZX6R. I’ve thought about upgrading my bike several times, but I just love it! I love going on trips on the bike or just take it out late at night around town.

I have several other small hobbies, but those three are what currently takes up most of my time.

My name is Derek Salyers, I’m 23 years old. I’m married to a wonderful woman name Jessica Salyers and am lucky to have a wonderful 4 year old daughter named Britni Storvoll.

I live near Youngstown, Ohio in a smaller city called Niles. I own a s-corp named Click Consultants Inc, and am blessed enough to have a job that is scheduled around my life and not a life that is scheduled around my job!

I’m have several pets including a Ferret named Elizabeth, two parakeets named Alex and Daphne, and a Saltwater Fish/Reef Tank.
