I was not paid for this review, I actually like the site and I think it is a cool idea and I sincerely encourage you all to check it out and even submit a video for your own blog!
I was introduced to BlogGears by the owner of the site as he approached me and asked me to do a video pitching in 60 – 90 seconds why someone should visit my blog. I’ve really been getting into video lately, so I thought this would be a great way to let you guys see a new light to Click Consultants. In this video you’ll get to know me a little better… I reveal how much I actually make with affiliate marketing per month (the about page of this blog is outdated!), and also I bet you didn’t know I’ve helped several top affiliates get started in this business!
Anyways, so let’s get on to the review…
What exactly is BlogGears?
BlogGears is a website where bloggers submit a video of themselves explaining why someone should visit their blog. The topic of your blog can be in any niche. It doesn’t matter as long as it’s a blog! You can do a comedy style video, or maybe a drama??? The possibilities are as endless as your imagination.
For readers BlogGears is a place to discover new blogs. You get to hear exactly from the owners of the blog what their blog is about, why you should visit it, and in the process of watching the video you also get to see who is behind the blog!
Another neat feature of BlogGears is that you can vote for your favorite video (vote me up) or you can bury videos you think suck!
Some things I’d like to see:
There are a couple things I’d love to see BlogGears implement on their site. First off, I think to the right of the main video that loads on the home page (which is a random one) they should also have a smaller embed video of the Most Popular Video and also the Most Recent Video instead of just the links like they have in the right sidebar.
Also, I’d love to see the comment subscribe plugin installed so bloggers could subscribe to comments so they’d get an email when someone commented on their video.’
The last thing I’d change personally is the fact that they have three advertising spots. One is a 468×60 banner and the other two are 125×125 banners. The thing that sucks is the 125×125 banner rotate with other ads. In fact, each 125×125 banner rotates between 5 ads.
I think it would be better to have four 125×125 banners and each one only rotates two ads. Instead of ten ads that would only give you eight spots but I think it would attract a lot more advertisers to the site.

I love the new site, and thanks for checking the vid Derek. Actually, that site brought me over here…I had been by before, but, never really got involved…when I saw how normal of a dude you seemed to be, plus the social proof, I knew I had to visit and learn from you!
I hope more people get in on the site and start participating.
I’ll add the subscribe to comments plugin this evening (I meant to add it yesterday, must have forgotten).
“they should also have a smaller embed video of the Most Popular Video and also the Most Recent Video instead of just the links like they have in the right sidebar”
How do you see this working? I can think of a couple of ways it *may* work, but (for example) would it just be the top entry that shows the smaller video, and would you want it to take up the entire width of the sidebar?
Advertising, that’s Max territory.
I have to be honest, I’m not 100% sure how you would do the recent video and most popular video, maybe just like you have your two 125’s only put it above the popular and recent box.
I’ll have to have a think about that one some more. For now, I’ve enabled comment subscriptions and I believe Max has reduced the ad slot rotations too.
The other thing we are looking into is a widget to let users show off their video / rating easily from their blog.
I’ve been talking with the one owner Mattaw for the duration of his building that website. I think I’m going to put a video of my own up just for his sake, but I really don’t see this taking off. When you look over the basic theory… there’s no room for traffic growth. I don’t see any non-blog owners visiting the website. Meaning it’s only going to be referred traffic from people saying “check out the video I just made” save a few examples. Still interesting though…
I’ve just seen this on Entrecard. It would be fun to use but for now I don’t think that I would be using them since I have no success to share right now.
