Troubles With Vista – Upgraded to Windows 7

Say Something (17) July 19th, 2009 Derek

windows7-screenshotSo I’ve been having a huge problem with Windows Vista on one of my computers.  In fact, it was with the laptop that I use primarily.  For some reason, and I’ve actually heard a ton of people say this, but Windows Vista was causing my laptop to overheat!  So bad, that if I used my laptop for more than 2 hours and shut it down, it wouldn’t even boot back up again until I had given it a good 15 minutes to cool down!

It’s been like this since the day I bought it, and I searched all over the internet for a fix and couldn’t find one.  I should of taken the laptop back when I first realized the problem, but to be honest, I was too lazy to go through the hassle, and instead like an idiot, just dealt with the problem when it arose… or, I just used other computers (I have too many anyways!)

However, this laptop is suppose to be the fastest one I had, with the best processor and memory compared to my other computers, so I’ve always been kinda annoyed that it’s had this problem.  I also figured since this was a windows vista problem, getting another computer would be kinda senseless…

I heard about others saying that they just reverted their computers to Windows XP, however, to be completely honest, besides this problem, I actually really liked Windows Vista even though it’s had a ton of complaints!!!

Anyways, so I finally decided to download and install Windows 7 Release Candidate as I plan to buy Windows 7 as soon as it comes out anyways, in fact I’ll probably preorder it here in the next day or two!

So what do I have to say about Windows 7?  Well, first let me say that I believe all the hype about it being faster than Vista, I’ve definitely noticed an increase in speed in how fast it loads, shuts down, and opens programs and runs them.  Before anyone says anything, I didn’t do a complete wipe on my system, I just upgraded so it’s not because there isn’t crap on my computer, there is tons of crap on it!

Also, I love the new taskbar and how it groups things and instead of long bars, just has images of the application and groups all of those applications under the image icon.  I think it’s brilliant and can’t believe they didn’t think of it for Vista, it may annoy some people and you can change it back to the way your use to, but I don’t know why anyone would if they actually gave it a shot!

Now, do I recommend upgrading now to Windows 7?  Well, probably not if you aren’t having any problems with your current setup as I have heard a lot of people say they’ve had software issues and compatibility issues, however, I haven’t had any kind of issue at all with Windows 7 yet…(granted I’ve only been running it for about a week now)…

If you are having problems with Vista, and you’re willing to take a chance on some compatibility issues, then I say to go for it and upgrade to the release candidate and then buy Windows 7 when it comes out as I think it’s worth every penny personally.  It seems like a great solid piece of software unlike Vista.  I think Microsoft truly learned from their mistake with Vista and came back with a bang on this one!

I’m sure some of you are running Windows 7 as most of us are not only affiliate marketers, but also tech enthusiasts!  If you are, I’d love to hear what you think about Microsoft’s new operating system!  Leave me a comment!

What Happening With My Marriage?

Say Something (13) May 22nd, 2009 Derek

Well, it’s been a while since I’ve given an update on how things are going with my Wife and me.  I’ve had several people ask me what’s going on, so I figured I’d do a quick post about what’s happening with it all.  So far, we are still married, we have started marriage counseling finally, however, after the first session, we got into a fight (my fault) a day or two later, and I messed it up.  Thus, right now we are meeting with the counselor separately.

For some reason, I thought that once we started the counseling that we had to get all of our problems fixed asap….I was dead wrong, by trying to push Joy to talk about all of our problems outside of counseling, I actually pushed her away and now she is back to wanting a divorce.

As I said, we are both meeting with the counselor still seperately for personal reasons that we each have that we need to work through…

I’m totally uncertain as to what’s gonna happen and to be honest it’s killing me!  All I know is that I have finally realized (hopefully not too late) that I love my wife more than anything else in this world and I would gladly do anything at this point to prove it to her and to get one more chance at saving our marriage.

So, if your religious, pray for me, if your not…pray for me anyways!  I’d appreciate it greatly and I’m trusting God to make a way where there seems to be no way!!!

PS: Thanks to everyone who has shown concern and have kept me in their thoughts and supported me through this.  I appreciate all of you as my readers and I hope to soon be able to post as regular as I was in the past once I get through all this!

My Wife And I Are Seperating

Say Something (23) February 14th, 2009 Derek

Hey guys, well as I said in the last post I made.  I haven’t been able to keep up on posting much new blog posts.  I explained the main reasons for this in the last post and one of those was simply stated as personal reasons.  Well, I said that I would let you guys know what was going on…so I am.

My wife left me early last week, we’ve been having marital problems for quite some time now.  I really don’t want to get into a ton of the details, but, honestly I think it may be for the best.  I just don’t see us going in the same direction in life anymore.  I have a ton of stuff I’d like to accomplish, and she just seems to want to coast through life as easily as possible.

Anyways, I’m still hoping however that we can get some more counseling (been 3 times now), and actually see some changes, that is of course if she is even willing.  She’s pretty set on getting the dissolution which as I said I think I agree with her on it, but, hopefully we can still try to work on it afterwards if she’s willing.

I don’t believe in Divorce as a Christian, but I also don’t believe staying in a relationship that causes you to sin all the time anyways by screaming, hateful remarks, swearing at each other, etc.

Also, I’m not going to be able to post very consistently while all of this is going on, so I’ll be taking on some guest posts.  If you would like to write a guest post for this blog (free backlink to your site of course) please shoot it over to derek [at] clickconsultants [dot] com.  I won’t post crap on this blog, so unless you’re willing to actually take the time and write something worthwhile for my readers don’t bother sending it.

The guest posts do not have to be about affiliate marketing, I’m willing to take anything related to making money online, internet marketing, social media, etc.  So help me out and shoot over an article or two and enjoy a free backlink or two! ;)

Thanks everyone for the support you’ve shown!

What’s going on?

Say Something (9) February 7th, 2009 Derek

question-marksHey guys, first of all, let me again apologize for the lack of posting and updating going on here at Click Consultants.  It started happening around the first of the year and I made a comment here about it before and how things were going to start picking back up.  Unfortunately, this has yet to happen.  I’ve been posting but it’s been more sporadic and the posts haven’t been as informant as I normally like them to be!

So I’m sure you’re all wondering what’s going on?  You all want your information and you want it now!!!  You’re here to make money and this blog is suppose to help you with that!  So again, what’s up?

Well, the first and major thing, I’m just unable to currently talk about.  There have been some major personal problems going on for a while in my life and it seems like things have finally happened with the situation leaving some carnage behind.  So, I’m working on getting things in my life put back together.  Hopefully I can get back on a more stable routine here shortly again.  Of course, I’m sure I’ll post about the situation once I feel it’s appropriate.

Secondly, and this is something that I can share and express freely, is that I’ve been finding some other revenue streams that have been producing more income that affiliate marketing stuff, although in all fairness it still kinda has to do with AM and AM still has a part in it.  Anyways, I’ve been debating this for a while and I believe I’m going to go ahead and just do it…

Do what?  Well, CC is going to start changing and I believe this change in the long term is going to be for the best.  CC started out as a professional blog.  Most that have been reading it has noticed that in the beginning there weren’t many personal posts…if any really!  Recently however personal posts have been picking up more.  I’ve been talking about favorite iPhone apps, death of a pet, etc.  Anyways, I believe that I’m going to continue to post personal posts and also I believe I’m going to start posting about more stuff than just affiliate marketing!  *Gasp*  Yeah, I hear ya!  I did a poll here a couple months ago in the sidebar and a lot of you said to just stick with posting about AM, but here’s the problem… I’m discovering that there are tons of other ways to make a ton of money online!  Yes, AM is great and it’s still my biggest money maker at this time, however, I can see several things taking over that.  I want to share these things with you guys!  So….I will be…

This blog will be changing, don’t worry most of the info here will still be AM related I’m sure, but slowly you’ll see other subjects coming up as well!  Not a bunch of fluff and stupid stuff, but things that actually make money!

Also, I’ve been neglecting the paid forums just like I have this blog and for those that are a part of the forums I’d just like to add that be patient with me just a little while longer and you’ll see that it will be worth it!

Keep me in your prayers about the direction my life is heading and that the Lord will guide my steps.  Thank You!!!  My readers and subscribers are the best!  Woot!

A Much Needed Break

Say Something (6) December 2nd, 2008 Derek

Hey Guys, sorry I haven’t posted in a little over a week.  With Thanksgiving happening just this last week, My family and I got extremely busy!  We spent some much needed time with family and decided to just relax.  So the only work I did this last week was on my affiliate campaigns (as little as possible) and keeping up on email (so that I didn’t come back to something fierce!).  Besides those two things, I was gone from the internet.

So Thanksgiving was only ONE day you’re saying…so where was I for the rest of the time?  Well, I’ve always been in sales and marketing in my life, even before I started internet marketing, yet I’ve never ever experienced a black friday.  So I went with a bunch of teens from our church youth group including my 3 sisters.  We got up early as heck and hit up Kohl’s, Walmart, the mall, and more.  It was a blast!

Also, I decided to do some catching up on the new World of Warcraft exspansion.  Wrath of the Lich King recently came out and because I’ve been extremely busy this last month or two getting ready for this last quarter of affiliate marketing (biggest quarter of the year) I haven’t had much time to devote to it.

So, that about explains what I did for Thanksgiving week and I thought I’d explain to all my faithful readers why I haven’t been around.  I promise I’m back and writing up another great post as we speak to get posted up shortly.  I would of posted this earlier letting you all know that I would be around for the week, except, I didn’t even know myself…It was more of a spur of the moment type decision.

Last but not least, I’d like to say that I’m thankful for all of you that read this blog, those that are a part of the CC forum, that I have a job that allows me to spend time with family when needed, and so much more that I could write forever!

Anyways, I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and I’d love to hear in the comments what you did for Thanksgiving and what you’re thankful for!  Even if your not from the United States you can still post a comment letting us know what your thankful for as it’s good for everyone to reflect once in a while!

Happy (Belated) Thanksgiving!!!
