This post is to touch on 5 things that I see numerous affiliates NOT doing when they first get started with affiliate marketing. These I believe are key factors to whether or not a newbie affiliate will make it in this business or not. I don’t mean newbie in a bad way, just that your well…NEW!
1.) Network, Network, Network. There are so many people out there that love to help other affiliates out, especially when they are first starting out. There is absolutely no excuse for not getting your name out there! Get to the affiliate marketing conferences, for example Affiliate Summit, comment on other affiliates blogs, talk to other affiliates via IM or E-mail. In other words, get out there and get noticed. How can you expect any help if no one even knows you exist?
2.) Build a Relationship With your Affiliate Manager! Again this kinda goes without say, but how can you expect your affiliate manager to give you bumps in payouts or send you new hot offers when they come out if they don’t even know who you are! When I first started out in affiliate marketing and only making 50 dollars a day total revenue, I was still able to get my affiliate manager to give me higher payouts at AzoogleAds. Not because I was a great affiliate marketer, but because I had taken the time to build a relationship with my Affiliate Manager.
3.) Start with a Proven Offer! When you are first starting out in affiliate marketing don’t try to reinvent the wheel. Nine out of Ten times you’ll end up losing money! Stick with an offer that everyone else is promoting! Yes you heard me right, and don’t take that the wrong way! I’m only talking about when your first starting out. There is no reason if people are making thousands upon thousands of dollars a day on an offer that you can’t squeeze in and make 50 - 100 dollars a day if you really try!
4.) Test, Test, Test! I can never say this enough when it comes to affiliate marketing. You need to be testing everything! Split test your landing page! Try to see if you can get a landing page to convert better. Split test your Ads and try to see if you can increase your CTR%. Never ever stop testing, especially when your first starting a new offer/campaign. It’s one the most important things you can do and one of the quickest ways to take a campaign that isn’t making money and turn it around so that its making tons of money!
5.) Track your Keywords! Affiliates that don’t track their keywords is kinda like driving a car blindfolded! You have no idea whats going on and you have no idea whats making you money! You need to track your keywords and see which ones are bringing you in sales or leads so you can put more focus into those particular keywords. Its not that hard to do, In fact an easy way to Track your Keyword Conversions with Google Adwords can be found on this blog!
I hope this helps you guys out some and maybe will open some of your eyes as to things you can do to increase your profits. Most of these steps are extremely easy to do and don’t require a lot of time, however, they can turn profit from 50 dollars a day to 250 dollars a day easily!
What are some other tips you can come up with that could help new affiliates increase their conversions, ROI, and Income? Please let me know in the comments!

My best tip is to find ways to spend less time working on building the campaigns.
-use adwords editor/ exel
-get yahoo gold
-outsource landing page design/article writing
Less time spent building campaigns mean you go through offers faster until you find that money maker. Also if you’re not making money, it puts you in a bad mindset doing the bitch work.
p.s. this is a gorgeous theme. I’ll be going to your guys in a few months when I launch my ppc blog.
