Are landing pages a factor?

I have seen other affiliate sites and have seen some dynamite looks. Just wondering if I could just use the ones provided by the forum.

Thanks

Landing page design and optimization is incredibly important for conversions.

That being said, take what you have (either obtained from here or elsewhere) and just put it up to get some test data. Then make minor tweaks. Or if you want split test what you get here with another one you either make yourself or get coded for you.

It all depends on your traffic and offer. Test two different designs and see which one works best for you.

Ok thanks for the input. It looks like it is all about the testing.

surprisingly how a landing page looks in terms of really simple and plain or very graphic and flashy doesn't matter.

I've had sites that are very in my opinion ugly and they are my best converters, while others times in diff niches a landing page that has alot of eye-candy has done alot better.

No real way to tell without testing.

If you have done the payday industry did it matter if it was ugly or nice? Also, was a one page landing page sufficient?

I've never really done a one page landing page honestly. I use a one page landing page but then add several pages of articles...I always have.

I never really got into payday, they did a case study here on it, but I just didn't have the time at the time.

You have to think about the person searching for your offer. If it's payday loans the person likely doesn't have a lot of disposable income, so they are more likely to have a dialup connection. That means you want a page without a lot of graphics. If it's ringtones it's likely teenagers with disposable income who have a broadband connection. Teenagers tend to go for things a little flashier, and with a broadband connection you can have more images.

Mystickal:

The several pages of articles that you talk about it that all on page of your landing page?

Just wondering if I should start to build a full site now or later for my campaign.

You should have some content on the landing page, then link to other articles from that page. Or link to categories that link to articles. Just like a normal website.

You definitely don't want to throw a ton of content on the homepage, that will confuse your users.

Reason why I asked is that I will dynamically create the site with (through Speed PPC). I do have a strategy to have a normal site, but that is a longer term organic strategy.

I wanted to know if I could get away with not having a multiple page site and just have one landing page.

I wouldn't advise it, I would at least get 3 - 5 articles up, woudn't take tha tmuch work and would increase your benefits.

One page landing pages are dying, be smart keep a step ahead of all the others that are still building one page landing pages.

Ok. Looks like I will put it up on Wordpress and go from there.

Even small mini-sites are now on the way out the door at Google and your quality score will suffer. I would at least build a 20+ page website and increase the unique content.

I run a mini site with about 7 pages. 20% of 15k keywords have a great QS. I'll probably be adding a few more unique articles to see what that does.

Correct, I was just saying for him to get started 3 - 5 articles besides his main one would be fine and then he can slowly build the site up.

At least thats what I do, unless I know the niche already does really well and I know I'll have no problem entering it...which is almost never :p
