How many Ad Groups can I create?

Hi all,

I just started to create my ads in Yahoo and found that I would need 40 Ad Groups if I have 20K keywords... may i know how many ad groups can Yahoo allow?

You can have a maximum of 1k keywords in each ad group actually. It's just that you can only add 500 at a time. As for ad groups, I've got 40 in one of my campaigns right now. :)

what are adgroups for? is that just so you can narrow down the keywords to get better positioning and more targeted traffic?

Like the campaign could be on dating, and the different adgroups could be like race or ethnicity and in each of the adgroups the keywords would correspond to that ethnicity?

Yup, you got it. And the ads in each adgroup can be written to target the niche groups. You might want an ad like this:

Meet Christian Singles
Fun loving Christians in Your Area
www.blah.com

Which would obviously go in your Christian adgroup, as it is tuned for people searching with the KW 'christian'.

adgroups can also be good for testing stuff out, its a good way to separate stuff out.

You can have as many adgroups as you need in Yahoo I believe. You just have those darn keyword limits that are killer in non-Gold or Platinum accounts.

Is there still a limit to KW volume in the gold/platinum accounts? What are the limits?

i think some people said gold was $500 a month for 3 months, but if you spend enough before then you can ask them to bump it up.
