Hey,
My campaign has a very crappy CTR (below.5%)
So i want to split up my adgroups into specific keywords.
what is the best way to do this?
Have seperate groups for each carrier? each brand of phone?
each music group? etc etc.
How have you split up your keywords?
And any other tricks to increase ctr?
ps. I will also seperate low CTR adgroups into a different campaign so they dont destroy the whole campaign.

You're probably after a SPECIFIC answer, but there really isn't one.
Everyone thinks differently... that's why even if we all do the same campaign with the same basics like keywords, etc, we can end up with different results.
For example, I personally suck at ringtones. The reason is that I don't "think" like people who buy ringtones (I have my cell on vibrate all the time, and don't understand why anyone would want strangers to hear their poor taste in music). Consequently, I don't write very good adcopy for ringtones, and thus my CTR and conversions aren't that great.
If you want my personal grouping technique, I group by non-brand names (so I don't use carriers and don't use manufacturers). For example, I have a group that is for "polyphonic". Because I figure if people search for "cingular polyphonic ringtones" or "verizon polyphonic ringtones", they're more interested in the fact that it's polyphonic, rather than their specific carrier. And thus I hack together a (bad) adcopy on the word "polyphonic".
You've been warned... I suck at ringtones. So take my advice with a huge lump of salt ;)

I might suggest that a CTR <0.5%, has more to do with bad keywords and/or lack of tuning rather than grouping or adcopy. Unless, of course, English isn't your primary language :)

thanks for that.
I actually think should get my keywords again..
I used Keyword elite, it gathered about 28000 keywords but after looking through them for a while i am seeing keywords like:
how to make myself fart, gross girls fart, family photos, facebook photo album.. etc etc.. LOL, thousands of keywords are crap like this.
I have tuned for hooours and rebuilt 4 new campaigns but CTR is still no good.
Thanks for the help... I think i will try the way you said because im not sure if we can use brand names in ads.
