Google Chrome – Firefox and IE Killer?

September 3rd, 2008 Derek

This blog post doesn’t really have anything to do with affiliate marketing, in fact, it has nothing to do with affiliate marketing…So, if you are a prissy brat that hates when bloggers have a blog about something and then post about something else….then get lost! :P

What is Google Chrome?

Google Chrome basically is a browser and nothing else…at least not at this time.  There are several sources that claim eventually Google Chrome will compete with Operating Systems like Windows or Mac, however, I don’t feel that for quite some time personally.  So basically Chrome is competing against Firefox, Internet Explorer, etc.

So what do I think about Chrome thus far?  Well…I have to be completely honest.  At first I thought it was really sweet!  It is defintely alot faster than any other browser on the market, however, after I’ve used it for more time the coolness factor quickly went away.

One of the biggest problems that I have with Chrome is that currently there isn’t any addons for it which pretty much makes it useless to me.  I use tons of addons in firefox to make my life easier and until Chrome has them, I’ll never be able to switch from Firefox.

One of the things I liked the most about chrome however was their page that opened up when you opened a tab which you can see by clicking on the picture to the right of this paragraph.  Basically when you open a tab you are displayed a page that lists the websites that you visit the most and also has a search box and some bookmarks on the right side of the page.  It’s really a nifty feature…yes…I said nifty…

Another thing I liked was that the tabs were at the top of the browser above everything else, but again the biggest problem I have right now is the fact that there isn’t any addons.  Also, while chrome is currently faster than firefox, firefox already has in a place a new thing they will be using that they claim will make fi

Hey Derek, I just downloaded Chrome yesterday and I have to say that I like it so far. Really fast, actually a lot quicker then any other browser out there.

But like you stated, it currently doesn’t have any addons/toolbars that you can add to it. Although it is still in its beta version and I am sure that Google just wants to get things tested out and make sure it is running smoothing before people start adding other things to it.

But it isn’t my main browser just yet…..when it comes to designing websites or doing any kind of web/css work, the Web Developer Toolbar will keep me coming back to FireFox. There are a few other things that I wish were different about Chrome which I wrote about in my latest blog post. But overall, I enjoy how quick it is and I think that it definitely has the potential to knock out Safari/Opera and to eventually compete with FireFox and Internet Explorer.

P.S. It seems as though your post got cut short.
