Hey guys, what’s up? I was planning on doing a post today, a review on SpeedPPC, but I was unable to because of an unfortunate event that happened last night in our house and that we had to deal with today. If you follow me on Twitter then you may of already noticed but I wanted to do a post for not only those that wanted more details but also in order to protect the memory of our beloved ferret Emily.
I sent out a distress calling for help last night at 7:24 PM EST. The twitter distress simply asked if anyone knew anything about ferrets, the symptoms Emily was facing and to contact me if you knew what the problem is. (Thanks for all those that replied!) After a while we thought we had found the problem, we thought it was ear mites as we kept reading that if a ferret had ear mites that went untreated it could affect their inner ear and cause them to lose balance and seem to be disoriented.
Immediately I ran out to the Pet Store and grabbed some ear mites medicine, came home and applied it. Then we waited. The only 24 hour vet (that did ferrets) was ~1 hour from our home…We were almost positive it was ear mites so decided not to make the drive…
We were wrong…I went to bed about 6am EST and noticed that Emily was breathing a little hard when I checked on her one last time…I then decided it couldn’t be ear mites as breathing shouldn’t of been a symptom. I went to bed and told my wife that she would need to get up at 8 and get her to the vets as soon as possible…
I received the phone call at 10:13AM EST that the vet had to put Emily down because she was suffering too much and it was too late to fix the problem. Apparently Emily had eaten something that caused blockage in her intestines…we’ll never know what it was, but we will miss her terribly!
I’ve posted this video on here before (Emily is the white ferret), but I figured (and felt) like I should post it again in her memory. We will miss you Emily, it’s amazing how much you can love such a small animal.

Man, I know what it’s like to lose a pet, especially a cute ferret. I feel for ya, my deepest condolences.
I’m so sorry to hear about your loss. Losing a furry family member is difficult and many people that do not own pets don’t totally understand the emptiness that follows.
Sorry to hear about Emily Derek.
They are so cute in the video, Im sorry to hear about Emily.
Grew up on a farm but was never a “pet guy”. Sorry to hear about your loss.
I hope you’re doing ok and I wish the best for you and your family because I know how much a loved one means to a person, even if she is an animal.

p.s. Where do you live and how much are ferrets? I think they’re illegal aren’t they?
@everyone Thanks guys for your condolences, means a lot to my family and me.
@Mike Huang I live in Ohio, ferrets here range from about 120 bucks to 150 bucks depending on where you get them. No they aren’t illegal here. There are a couple states which don’t allow them but not because of any real reason, just because at the time the laws were created they were misinformed.
They are excellent creatures and very fun (also annoying) as they can be very very mischievous.
Its very sad to hear abt the loss of Emily.i have seen the video it looks very nice .yes they can be mischievous but they r lovely.
Sorry to hear about emily, Anyways, I’ve watched the video and i have fun. Hope your fine..
That is really sad about Emily. Its terrible when something is happening and you don’t know about it or can’t really do much about it. She was such an active little thing too. It’s a shame that she had to go, and at such a young age too.
