I’m using a mac now but I also use XP. I’ve only ever had a few problems with XP, not enough to make me want to upgrade.

The problem with Microsoft operating system is that they are half-baked when released (that problem occurr’s regularly since the premiere of Windows 98). The applications and the whole OS should be tested for a year or more to see where are the holes, bugs and many other problems. Te other biggest problem of Microsoft OS is that they eat too much resources. Just like they were projected for computers that will be sold after 10 years from now.

Well I don’t use a laptop so I haven’t experienced the overheating, but I can bet! I have used vista on my desktop and I know that it can have its problems. Great news about windows 7. I guess its inevitable that people are going to have problems with windows 7 as well… nothing can work perfectly for everyone.

Thanks for the insight Derek. I’d love to upgrade to Windows 7, but based on what you’re saying I think my laptop would not support it very well. I guess I’ll have to wait until I can afford a whole new system. My girlfriend’s laptop has Vista and it always seems like her laptop is too warm. Perhaps she should upgrade to fix that issue.

Hmm that’s a tough one, if your just going by performance, I’d say that xp beats 7…

However, 7 does have all the pretty eye candy that vista had, but without all the flaws…so it’s a bit of a trade off.

Plus, most newer computers have faster cpu’s and more memory than most xp systems did, so I think it’s worth running 7.

Yes, it most definitely is, I’ve not had a problem with it overheating yet, been running it just over a week now. Stays cool the entire time!

Agreed, as I said above, I have a macbook pro, however, I also like my windows machines. I think apple is great, but I also think there are great features that windows has as well…so I use both, however, it was just vista that really sucked…

I’m telling you, Windows 7 is off the chain, at least check it out!

I tried to like Vista but it had way too many issues. It forced me to go to Mac and I never looked back. If you have some Windows only apps, just use VMware Fusion. Plus, I know you have an iPhone, Derek. OmniFocus on the laptop/desktop and the iPhone just can’t be beat for productivity. I am not an Apple fan boy, but their stuff just works…really well.

Mac may be a better choice, then again, not everyone prefers that OS. It’s all in the preference of the person. Personally, I do like Windows better, just because I haven’t tried Mac anyway.

Just a question, Is 7 better than XP?
